My phone rang one day, as it tends to sometimes do.  A glance at the screen informed me that the caller was in Ontario.  That doesn’t happen very often.  Turned out it was a photo editor at QMI Agency, and he wanted me to attend a signing at the Royal BC Museum Archives and take some photos.

Of course I jumped at the chance to do something different and expand my client base.  I didn’t know until I got to the Archives that I was in fact shooting for Canadian Heritage, which meant they would be getting the photos for internal use.  Oh well, so much for added exposure.

James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, was there to speak and oversee the signing of a  partnership agreement between the future Canadian Museum of History and the Royal BC Museum.  I had never realized that, as the minister put it, while the United States have the Smithsonian, Canada doesn’t have anything similar.

Well, it’s about time, and congratulations Canada!
